Who runs this machine?

My name is Edwin Iguina, known as EddiePotatoes on the internetz.  I am a geek, a husband and a father.  I am a full time insurance professional.  I am currently working on the technology side of an insurance brokerage.  I have been a contributor on the Huffington Post’s news network, HuffPost Live.

Technology and consumer electronics is my passion.  I used to run hyperlocal discussion forum websites for several years.  I am addicted to social media and am a fan of mobile operating systems.

Quick fire facts!

• I recently joined the cult of Apple with an iPhone 4S (now a 5) and MacBook Pro (13″, i7, Late 2011).
• My wife has an iPad 2.  I’m selling my iPad 3 in favor of the (mythical) iPad Mini.
• I love the Roku box.  I own 2 of them.
• I admire cord cutters and hope to be one some day.
• My wife and I were married for 6 years before we decided to have a child.
• My wife and I got married in 2003.  She was 23.  I just turned 24.
• I was all about Marvel Comics as a kid.  I never got into DC Comics.
• I regularly give my daughter pop quizzes on comic book characters.
• I can’t play sports worth a damn.  Can’t catch.  Can’t throw.  Can’t shoot.  Can’t hit a baseball.
• I am a big fan of all Philadelphia sports teams.
• I am especially passionate about my Philadelphia Eagles.  You may find me in a profanity-laced tirade on Twitter at times during the NFL season.
• Those who can’t play, officiate.  I used to referee high school football.
• Last year I decided to go back to school to pursue a Bachelor’s in network and communications.

So what is DadPulse.com?

Being a tech geek and the father of an awesome 2 year old girl, I wanted to start blogging about my experiences as a father as it relates to technology.  I will be reviewing mobile apps and pretty much any other tech I come across that I feel young dads would be interested in.  We will also discuss some parenting hacks.  I am sure we’ll cover other topics, but let us start there and see where this will take us.
