The DirecTV and Viacom dispute has come to a head forcing DirecTV to pull Viacom’s channels off the air. Some of the channels affected are Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Comedy Central and MTV. Of those that affect me personally… well, Nick Jr., Nickelodeon and, possibly, Comedy Central. For me, really, it was no big deal.
We have been experiencing a lot of technical issues with the service and I just want an out of my 2-year contract. If I have to unplug, push the red button, check the connections, etc. one more stinkin’ time, I am going to explode. (Cord-cutters, I envy you.)
The kid came rushing into the kitchen last night while I was making dinner. “Papi! They said no more SpongeBob!” I didn’t care for the scrolling message from DirecTV, but I really didn’t care for the video propaganda from Viacom. Either way, it’s cool. We have Netflix and a Roku 2. I can run Dora on a loop and she would be none the wiser.
The whole thing is ridiculous with both sides pointing the finger at one another. What really had me chuckling, though, was the response of the Internet. We all know that people feel the need and believe they have the absolute right to go completely unfiltered online to the point that they appear unhinged. They wrote about their children crying. They used words they wouldn’t use in front of any decent human being. It was hilarious.
