Today would have marked the 108th birthday of children’s book author and illustrator, Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as Dr. Seuss.

Dr. Seuss’ silly rhymes and quirky characters have stuck in the minds of generations of children.  The vast library of books he authored include such unforgettable books as The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who and Green Eggs and Ham

Of course, another one of his well known books was The Lorax.  Not coincidentally, the movie based on the book opens today.  It is an animated version of Seuss’ story about a creature who “speaks for the trees.”

Geisel was involved heavily in politics.  He was an outspoken liberal Democrat.  He was opposed to fascism, racism and discrimination.  His books tended to touch on social issues either of the time or what he experienced in his life time.

Many of his books have been made into mobile apps by OceanHouse Media.
